Fitting a K&N should give you a couple of horse power.  Replacing the mechanical fan with an electric one gives you 5hp extra though! (on my 2.25 petrol, tried it on a rolling road)  Plus the engine heats up quicker and its quieter (not sure you'd notice this on the diesel though!)

Mine has a electric fan from a Rover 600 (cost me £12.50 new, bought it at a kit car show) thats fits quite well.

Replaced the old mechanical fan with a kenlowe, best investment i have ever made! if you have a standard speedo, and your running on 750s does that mean it will be under reading your speed or over reading?

ep90:
With 750's its means your actually going faster than your speedo indicates - for example speedo = 45mph, actual speed = 50 mph.

fire boy si:
fit an green cotton tornado or a k&n the make a lotof difference i have a series 3 with the 2286 diesel engine it will improve the off the mark throttle response

the green cotton is about £85 (this is the one i have and it comes with a shroud so that it wont get oilly) and the k&N is about £30

you'll need one with a 68mm diameter female hole on it and the green cotton you'll need the 70mm and a 90 bend

hope this helps

rustprooflandyracer:
Excellant, will consider a conversion now. by the way speedo was reading 70mph so was actually going faster then and it seemed like she had more to give! I reckon the diesel engine is wonderful... when it runs right
