Personally i wouldn't bother trying to improve the performance of the 2.25 diesel, as i have tried everything. ie: the pump, removing the fan, paper air filter, ported and skimmed head, matching the exhaust manifold to the head as half of the no.4 exaust port is actually covered by the manifold, tried all host of other things and it was stil s**t slow. put the money towards a 200tdi, what a difference one of those makes.
Still have a ported haed for a 2.25 diesel if you are dead set on the 2.25 route.

i run a K&N on mine (supposed to be for a 2.8 nissan diesel)
i didnt notice the difference at all from the standard oil bath, apart from making it a tad noisier
but as it was free, and my oil bath was leaking (dont ask!) i left it on
Miniman:
I have had 85mph out of my S3 Diesel but there is a catch. I have fit 90 diffs and the speedo has been changed to a 90. I haD a person following me as I did it to check that my speedo was correct. It did take about 4 mins to get there and it was on the flat.
This is the catch...
1 I WILL NOT DO IT AGAIN AS I COULD NOT KEEP THE D*M THING IN THE WHITE LINES.
2 BOTH DIFF SEALS LEAKED AFTER THIS.
3 THE EXHAUST CAME LOSE.
4 THE SIDE SKIRT STARTED TO FLAP.

I thought the vehicle behind you was to pick up the bits as well as checking your speed
James.Harwood:
There is no way to tell how fast a land rover is traveling unless you have got a GPS unit on board, Spedo's read a random speed depending on many factors, like time of day, weather conditions, Wife on board or not, etc
I have had my S2 over 80 down hill, brother behind in 90 TD5 S**ting himself at the thought.
As for tyre size on 7.50's and 265/75's get the same speed from GPS at 50 on clock.
