V8 Distributor rubber glove thingy
stefan:
On my 2.5 petrol 90 I placed the coil in an ice cream tub on the bulkhead, sealing in with silicone where the HT and LT cables come in at the bottom. For the Dizzy, Magnecor KV85 leads, removed the cap, placed a bead of gasket sealer around the base of the cap, refitted. Then ran a small bead of silicone sealer around each lead connector on the cap and pushed the lead down to form a seal. So far so good, huge improvement, the engine only coughs if I've really taken a hard run through some water.

I ran my V8 with the rubber glove on (tuff toys one) and it was amazing!!!!
You can seriously wade in it!
However still not as deep as a tdi.....
....so I bought a 300tdi!
Got a spare dizzy and coil glove if someone wants to swop if for a couple of beer tokens??
davidlandy:
I saw a v8 wading very deep and it never missed a beat. The guy opened the bonnet and as well as the coil 'marigolded' up he had a air horn compressor plumbed into the dizzy cap which he switched on when wading - pressurizing the cap and keepin the water out.
seemed to work real well.
Reaper:
I've seen the air horn compressor/rubber glove system work well before on a friends v8 S3!
