no fan
« on: February 09, 2009, 22:07:32 »
my range rover 2.8 izuzu td doesnt have a fan at the moment, having had a kenlowe removed by the previous owner, looking on ebay you can buy kenlowe type fans, obviously these wont be nearley as good but do they do the job? what other bits would i need to fit one? does any know what type of fan these engines usually have- when i was been shown over it by the mechanic after the mot he showed me what looked like the mount for the old fan? is there a scrapyard alternative? sorry for all the questions :) and thanks in advance

Fiat FWD vans have a hooge fan on them.  A pair of 13" H/D Kenlowes shift about half as much air as the viscous fan, so which rad do you have? if it's a V8 rad then you need a farly humble fan TBH as it's way overcooled most fo the time, if it's a TDi rad then try a 16" Kenlowe, that's what I have on ours (that said i think the intercooler is less efficient because of the lack of draught now).

Have a leccy fan on my tdi engined RR, hardly ever comes on climbing Breasthigh in the Lakes was the last time I think !!

Had a 110 with an Isuzu in it absolutely superb engine again very rarely needed the leccy fan only when heavy towing over Shap and then turned off going down the other side.
