Drivers Door Electrics
« on: February 20, 2007, 21:34:12 »
Hi All

can anyone please advise if they have had this fault & possibly where to start checking.

98 grand Cherokee Orvis 70k miles. I have lost all power to my drivers door. I cannot operate any Window (passenger one operates from passenger side). My Mirror will not operate, neither will the seat memory switches, or locking from that door only. It would seem that i have lost all power to the drivers door console. Is there a fuse specifcially for the drivers door?. I have checked the connector between the door & frame it seems ok

Had anyone had this problem before ...it sounds expensive

Any advice?

Disconnect your battery for 10 mins and try again. Sounds daft, but i've been told by a chrysler mech that it works. Something to do with the solenoids power.

From when I had a problem with the memory on the electric mirrors I seem to remember there being a 'passenger' (American/lhd) door module in there that controls the mirrors/windows and central locking.

well i disconnected the battery & it made no difference. I checked the earths & they seemed ok... so i took out the drivers door module & opened it up & found some damage (Ringed in pic). Question is can i just replace it ? or is it likely to happen again. Also the dealer is asking nearly £200 for one of these, is there anywhere else either in UK or US where i could order one direct.

Any scrappies near you?

It'd be a hell of a lot cheaper to get the whole unit out of another motor.

I'm pretty sure if you get one from a breakers you'll still need to take it to the dealership to get it coded as it controls the alarm, immobiliser, central locking as well as the memory for the electric mirrors/seats.
