Auto box take-up clunk
« on: December 13, 2006, 19:11:30 »
The auto box on my Disco 1 V8 clunks quite alarmingly when going from
forward to reverse and vice versa, seems worse when warm. Only started doing it fairly recently, any ideas what it could be please?

(Fluid has been changed fairly recently)

Is it replaceable? Is it expensive?

The output shaft wears on ealry non-drilled LT230 boxs.  Fortuantely  on the Auto yo can pull the shaft and fit a new one (pretty cheap, some say £30?) but you have to drop the T Box.

If it's come on fast though, check your props aren't loose first
