Haven't Seen One Of These For Ages. 1
« on: July 17, 2006, 11:20:52 »
I was enjoing a day inthe sun yesterday at the 'Ackworth Historic Vehicle & Steam Rally' in the company of Dan ('22900013A')
As we wondered round looking at some excellent exhibits, my eyes fell on something I haven't seen for years

RL250

I still think they're a gorgeous looking bike, with that chromed Reynolds 531 frame & the yellow paint.
I'd have one even now

Yes, I know they're not in the same ability class as a modern GasGas, or whatever, it's just that it looks 'so right'.

On which point;
Does anyone remember 'Kickstart' (presented by Peter Purves) with Eddy Lejeune on the (green) Italjet??

I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Well found =D>

That brings back memories

As well as Eddy Lejeune (not to be confused with the Loiusanan 'Zydeco' musician), who was the tall American who always seemed to in it??

Eddy Lejeune - Is that the rider, who on Kickstart, used to come up to the start line on his rear wheel, then jump to his front wheel and balance there?

I believe he did

Who else was a regular competitor, as I think it was really post-Lampkin (trials) domination, & obviously pre Dougie Lampkin
Also; I never knew he was awarded a MBE

Did you also know that the offroad course we used at Towcester is where many of the trails were held?

Now your talking, old bikes. how many of you owned a fizzy?
They were pretty good offroad when i was 16, also had the use of a kt250 lovely looking bike but didn't seem to be that popular in the competion world.
