Big Brother in action again,

So with monitoring every 400 yards on motorways we will expect more speeding tickets.

Hell you do a couple of miles at 85 miles per hr and you've lost your licence.

I guess the + sides are that these prats who drive without licence, tax or MOT will have problems now.

Better select "avoid motorways" in TomTom then...

The M25, around the M3 / M4 area has had variable speed limits and supposedly digital cameras for ages. You are much in the minority if you stick to the (reduced) speed limit though. Does that mean 100's or 1000's of people receive speeding tickets daily?

Here's one who doesn't get tickets and one of the minority that sticks to the limit, my license is my livelihood so I can't afford to lose it.

Mind you I don't always agree with the speed limits that are being set just lately, I think they are designed to frustrate drivers into speeding therefore trapping them into a fine, but of course you don't HAVE TO speed, it's your choice.

Only if they are stupid enough to register the car to themselves when they buy it.

Do you think us 200tdi drivers could have a rebate on our road tax for not being able to reach the speed limit on the motorway?

You must have a slow 200Tdi then......

My Series 2 though.... nice steady 55/60mph down the motorway.
(just not very fuel efficient!!!)...  but there again my tax is free anyway!!!

On the bright side, when your car gets nicked it will be possible in some cases to trace it.  I'm sure the scumbags will have new plates on pronto but at least it makes it more difficult for them.

And if it reduces insurance avoidance then all the better.  Speeding's already illegal - all this is is a way of enforcing it.

Now, if only they'd use those variable speed limits sensibly instead of making up speeds at random in the middle of the night.

Variable speed limits, also known as the "another distraction whilst driving"  Either you pay more attention to the flashing lights and get pulled over for dangerous driving, or you ignore them and get done for speeding.

I should point out at this point that I haven't been done for either...
