Title: Info needed on P38 mods and problems
Post by: stuntman on November 03, 2009, 20:42:42
Hello one and all, does anyone have any info re body styling and electrical probs?

I'm interested in 'upgrading' the body styling and hopefully sorting the rubbish electrical probs, at a gues I'll be stripping the whole lot out of the car and starting again :(

But I'm looking at this a long term project, and yes tim I'll be keeping the V8 and putting in a pair of torpedo tanks under the boot. This will mean removing the spare wheel wheel and swapping the standard fuel tank out for a smaller item.

Any help would be appreciated.

there is a company in sutton-in-coldfield that recondition and reset BeCM's and ECU's we had a key code fault and alarm / central locking fault on my dads p38, we contacted him and he just wanted the BeCM not the vehicle and put it on his bench test equipment, reset the key code and removed the alarm from the system and just allowed central locking, gave us a new remote locking fob

Good lad v8 power

Thought you'd like that one Tim  :D

I've just brought a P38 too -  4.0 V8 running on "pure juice" not "donkey fart".

Looking to fit a custom made set of sill protectors, Bearmach diff guards, cut away bottom of front bumper, make guard plate for front, fit CB. Then it's just about what boots I run and if I ditch the air suspension in favour of coils.

Waffor, LPG?  Just put a 95L toroid straight in the well.

NO! Ive got the 95l tank in the spare wheel well, it gives me a range of 160 miles, and ive got a spare wheel taking up most of the boot space.

I would go with the smaller petrol tank and the torpedo tanks, that way you wont have to fill up with gas every other day.

bearmach diff guards are a bit ropey in my opinion had no end of trouble with mine fitting so sent the [!Expletive Deleted!] back. managed to track down a southdown one excellent piece of kit, got a nice winch bumper too good front skid on it but managed to bend it landing on a tree stump :(
