although at the last event i was at my mate & i were drag racing his auto 90 against my manual 1 & the only time he could beat me was when he was in low box & i was in high,
landyman Ash:
That is the down side of them, they have one hell of a lag!
Good for slow and techical off roading, terrible for acceleration.
Thrasher:
*LAG*???
!!!!!!
I think not.
Auto box = power to wheels AT ALL TIMES. If you want to talk lag - explain what happens when you use the clutch pedal!
Xtremeteam:
when we were draging i was spinning the wheels in first but as soon as they hooked up i was ofsky n left him behind ( he was on new diamonds & i was runnin old sats)

V8reline is right. Although you have permenant drive you can dip the clutch for a high speed start.
Ive run auto for years and love it BUT pulling away at the lights against a V8 manual and Im left for dust!!!
Both have pros and cons, for my type of off roading the auto is unbeatable but for V8Redlines (michaels) types of comp safari and fast accelaration EVEN when you need to change gear, the manual will thrash you!
