V8..
whitewolf:
...ok , I'm getting a lot of conflicting information about fitting a 3.5efi v8 into my 90 , Can some one who knows how to do it or has done it please offer some pearls of wisdom.
1. what do i need to fit the engine to my lt77 box, and should I take this route?, what are the down sides and how much work is involved :?
2. If not the above, what the hell do I do?
3.If good alternative to number 1 offered in responce to number 2, where do I get all the bits??
4. Someone tell me how the hell to to it.
Thank you all in advance.....oh yeah , paying for a 'proffesional' fit job is not an option, lol

If the box is an LT77 from a Range Rover, then it will fit. (It will have a bloomin long bell housing.)
If it is not, then you need an adaptor ring, and that will be a couple of hundred quid unless you can find one second hand.
Aside from that, you have the option of putting an auto box in there. Best bet would be to get a complete engine and box from a running RR or Disco and transplant the whole lot.
You can fit a manual Discovery gearbox (again, it will need to come from a V8 vehicle), but the gear lever will end up in a slightly odd place and you will need to modify your seat box (you'll loose your middle seat effectively)
Hope that helps :-)

Cheers Tim, my box is the standard diesel one, so I think i had better source a rangie one....dont want to have to chop stuff around

V8 conversion umm My V8 has been fitted last weekend...
Best thing is to get a LT77 box from RR clasic you will pay Up to 150 notes unless you get lucky
You will have to play around with the wiring a lot , New fuel pump and of course the engine Try to find a RR thats failed its MOT and strip it yourself Theres a few bits you need Chassis engine mounts air filter and if you strip it you know how to put it together..
this way all you have to chop around are the engine mounts
Problem areas is power steering, Altenator wiring
Any more question I can answer as and when I come across them

Have you not considered the Auto box??
Ran it in my 90 hybrid, blooming fab!!!! Would not go back to manual ever. No messing with gearbox mounts either as they just bolt in!
