Shame For Shipley (& Bradford)

Bush Tucker Man:
One for Andy

Sadly one of the oldest attractions in the Bradford area is under threat

'Yorkshire Post Magazine'

Not a great day for the city, as it was a haven of (almost) Victorian tranqulity at times, just good old-fashioned fairground rides. The tram itself was practically unique

Tramway web-site

It's also practically 'next-door' to Saltaire, a World Heritage Site, the only one in Yorkshire.

Andy the Landy:
  Blimey BTM that tramway website brings back memories   Used to go there as a kid with Mum and Dad when we lived at Idle near Thackley in the early 70's

Bush Tucker Man:
It's a couple of years since I've been up there, might have a trip up on my next weekend off & give my support.

Thackley?, Idle?, know both places.

Sorry, factual error :oops:  :oops:  :oops: ;
I forgot Fountains Abbey is also a (fantastically brilliant) World Heritage Site in Yorkshire.
However could I have forgotten it?

lowey:
 It is attractions like these that enrich our lives. Reading the text from the link and seeing 5,000 pounds insurance is just typical of the way things are these days with joe public claiming at the slightest thing.
If it was just a matter of bums on seats then I would put it on my must visit list. It is now on the must visit list and will combine it with trips to Haworth for Bronte (missus) & K&WV lt railway (me) this summer.

Just hope the lottery will come good & help it out with a grant.

This is a treasure which must not be allowed to be lost forever.

Living in Leeds it was a place my Dad took me to lots whwn I was younger and I too was very sad to read it's fate on saturday.
