CAV injector pump.
« on: May 29, 2005, 21:44:26 »
Just a quick question about injector pumps.

One of our ford tractor has a CAV injector pump and a "Pull to stop" cable arrangement, when you stop the engine using the cable it stops fine but the stop cable wont go back in, it is sticking at the injector pump. I have disconnected the cable to make sure it wasn't snagging somewhere so it looks as if it a problem inside the pump.

Dose this mean that the injector pump is goosed or is there a way of repairing it cheaply
Regards
Matthew

if i remember you can undo the two nuts on the top and remove it and there is a spring/lever arrangement inside(long time since i had one apart) if its had water through it it seizes these up just enough to stop them returning correctly
when you put it back on make sure everything is in the right place or it wont stop  as the stop lever misses its contact
