Replacing UJs
Bob696:
Rear UJ on the rear propshaft has gone.
Droped the propshaft out
Get the old UJ out and notice it dosnt have a grease nipple and has never had one :?: It is shot to [!Expletive Deleted!].
Get the first bit of the spider in (into the coupling flange) but the 2nd set just wont go in. I managed to break a 1 ton vice trying to get it to fit. Am I missing something here? Thought this was supposed to be an easy job :!:
hobbit:
Are they held in with clips or a pinch nick on the ends
Bob696:
got the old UJ out with little trouble ..removed circlips ..used a drift ets.
2nd pair of the pin bearing housing just wont go on. 1st pair was a struggle but they went in eventualy.
hobbit:
From what i've seen I think they are not tapered, did you inspect the yokes for any damage, or dents?
Bob696:
yup ...no apparent damage .. only thing I can think of is that they are the wrong UJs :-(
Its got me beat
