Sankey, which is part of the GKN group also produced a lot of sheet metal & pressings work for the Leyland consortium in the late 60's & early/mid 70's.

If anyone remembers the AEC, Albion, Leyland 'Ergomatic' cabs on trucks of the day (right up to, in upgraded form) the Marathon.

Yes, they all share common ground with the big green trailers

This is the cab design, I mean

I only realised this a few days ago after reading the February copy of 'Classic & Vintage Commercials'

Incidentally, one of the regular photgraphers (Nick Baldwin) has a Labrador with a good 'motoring related' name; Dunlop

Was tought my class 2 in militants and the 50's leylands, definately something you dont forget especially with the crash boxes and no power steering, we had to pass our test on these wagons before they would let you loose with the new trucks we were getting at the end of the 70s, the foden with a rolls royce eagle engine, talk about chalk and cheese

I know that GKN is a very big company with fingers in a lot of pies.

I will hazard a guess that Sankey is mainly a steel pressings/fabrication concern??
(i'm undoubtedly wrong. Again! )
