No ... but strangely, I can't get to the .com version as it keeps redirecting me to the .co.uk one. I'm sure it never used to do that :-k

have you ever set your preferences on the google site? if so it puts a cookie in your pc so it knows if you go to .com it goes to .co.uk

the techie bit could also mean that they detect which ip address you are on (hence knowing the country of origin it came from) and then directing you to your local google website.

both are possible btw.

Ive just used mine, for searching for Rangie stuff on the net. Seemed o.k,
but it didnt through up as many items found as it normally does ?.  :?
If in first you dont suceed,try second....
If it aint broke, your not trying ard enough....

I have the Google toolbar which has a setting of which Google to use (UK) - it's probably been like it for ages, but I just haven't noticed :roll:

Gords / Dyf,

When they made the global IP registry public, a lot of sites started auto-detecting your country of origin and redirecting you accordingly.    They updated google a few months back to do it and didn't tell anyone :-)

I'm so used to using the UK Google that I never noticed - shame they don't default the UK Google to search UK sites though :roll:
