A very vague question...
« on: October 30, 2011, 19:48:04 »
Theres a small chance that a TD5 disco may come into work with a suspected headgasket failure and hopefully i might be able to buy it.

My question is how likely is it that the headgasket has gone? Is it a common problem for the TD5 and are there any knock on effects? I'm trying to work out if its a viable project vehicle for me or maybe a little money maker to sell on....

Thought please?

I've heard a few stories of cracked heads and head gasket failures caused by overheating/radiator problems.

I have a mate who had a TD5 with constant head gasket problems as the garage didnt change the plastic locating pins in the head that can cause problems.

Apparently this is a known TD5 problem and LR are well aware of it.......

He had enough of it after the 4th HG change and got rid of it.....
