D2 Td5 ABS lights
« on: October 30, 2011, 14:00:38 »
Hi all,

I have perused through the other posts on here for answers but most seem to be on 300 tdi's, mine is a 2000 (X) Td5 ES Manual.

This is where I am up to with it......

T4 machine stated right rear sensor defective or too big of an air gap, I tested the ohmage and got 1035 which is in the 'OK' category, MOT is now looming so I have bought a new sensor anyway (ohmage 1060 which is still within the OK limit), the light has not gone off and the T4 is now saying right rear wire break or dead short.

I have disconnected the new sensor and run a cable from the SLABS pins to the plug behind the rear wheel, continuity is all fine between these and it shows no continuity between the pins which is all OK so I can presume the cable from the SLABS to the sensor is fine.

The T4 machine will not clear the fault as it says it's still there!

I am now lost as to where to look next, help needed!!!!!

Thanks in advance

Chris

Couple of points ..   Have you  joined any wires ?   if so the wires need tobe exactly the same length ,  I ve also had it where  the wheel brg itself has been at fault ( Abs ring inside brg) ..

I only put the cable in to test the original cable, it is all as it was now, one thing to mention is that the ABS ring was full of oil so it looks like the hub seal has gone, will this cause the problem (it was fairly dry the first time I looked at it about 3 months ago but definitely has quite a lot of oil in there now!)
