Range rover evoque

dxmedia:
So, when the new defender comes out, are landrover even going to make a 'propper' 4x4 any more?

The new defender, apart from having independent suspension is going to be FWD with an option to connect the rear axle for err crossing a grassy field?

The rest are already independent suspension and IMO have lost all offroading credentials.

lambert:
If indy suspension means more mpg then I'm in favour.

dxmedia:
Cheaper production costs and easier servicing I would have though.  Mpg? Can't imagine that there is much weight difference between independent and live axle all told.

lambert:
Mpg is the main reason the bowler nemesis is indy as it takes less power to drive.

dxmedia:
The long travel independent race suspension in the bowlers reason for being there is MPG? Are you sure about that?  You really really sure?

Might be something to do with the long travel off road race suspension?
