Sending packages sold on ebay

strapping young lad:
so maybe sending them with mdf may be my only choice

or double the hardboard to have one each side

i will cover the cost of everything in the posting so if people dont want my rare lp's they dont have to bid eh!

What might work out cheeper is to use hardboard
but plastering packages with FRAGILE DO NOT BEND just seems to make the post ofice want to experiment and see just how much they can bend the item and what will happen

HWMBO has sold a few LP's and bought a few, sometimes going to the States.
He puts a thin sheet polystyrene between the record and uses hardboard. It's the safest, best, cheapest way, and to date He's not had any problems with records.

Mind you last week a through necked bass he shipped inland (with fragile smattered all over it) was totally ruined.  The neck wasn't olny snapped but totally shattered rendering the whole Bass useless appart from the picks

Make sure you are covered by the insurance

Bought a 7" single from an ebay seller, it arrived in a thick cardboard envelope and around the single itself was 2 sheets of thick card.

Arrived in perfect condition.

strapping young lad:
where would you get the cardboard that is shaped for this use then?

other than cutting up existing cardboard to shape?

Vam:
HWMBO uses corrigated cardboard from big boxes.

Cuts 2 or 4 (depending on size and destination) squares about an inch bigger than the album sandwiches the album and thin polystryene (or bubble wrap at a pinch) and covers the whole thing in scotch tape, ususally twice.

Tapes/glues a sheet of paper to write address etc on front (Post Office can get funny and lables on tape - they say it doesn't stick properally)

It's a Bxxxxr to open at the other end, but at least they can't say you didn't pack it properally
