Disco 2 auto clutch problems?
« on: November 14, 2010, 09:32:54 »
I`m not too sure about this, i assume the autobox in a D2 has a clutch... heres the coo- driving back from the shop this morning and i noticed the lights for sport/manual modes flashing, also the display that shows what gear your in was flashing. Got to the junction and revved to pull away and it as like the clutch was slipping as it moved off real slow.... any advice?

Yea it's locked in 3rd gear as a get you home thing
The m and s lights lights flash when there's a electrical fault
It's usually the xy switch on the side of the gearbox
But the first thing I'd try is disconnecting the battery to see if it resets the gearbox ecu

Got the selector switch replaced, looked good, halfway home fault reappeared.... took it back and the switch needed a wee tweak as it didnt recognise which gear it was supposed to be in.... fingers crossed, so far all is well

It's in a stupid place because the air con drain drips on to the switch
