generation-x:
can someone tell me if my rear shocks/mounts are right
ive so far sanpped 2x pro-comp es3000's in events
one thing ive notice with taking them off and on so many times is that they dont seem to sit right to the mounts

if i put the lower mount in 1st tighten it up a bit i notice the shock dosent want to line up with the top hoop mount

are they all like this? as i feel its puttin more strain on the shocks with having to force them onto the top mount almost like having to bend them

Bowie:
How tight are you doing them up? You should only need to do them up so there is no slop and you have enough thread in the nyloc part of the nut, any more and you are likely to overload the pin and snap it off under articulation.

Yes, as the axle moves it will go 'out of line' on the shock mounts, that's what the soft rubber bushes are for, you're not using polybushes are you?

generation-x:
hi m8
no not over tightning them but if you tighten to lower mount the shox want to line up about 2" infront of the top mount

yes they are fitted with poly bushes at present..

ive got some standard rear shox coming off si holland im hopping this will help some wot..

ive even gone down the thinking of fitting limiting straps on the rear axle

Si

Bowie:
Stick some rubber bushes in there instead, the poly's will be overloading the pins, bear in mine the pro-comps have different sized eyes to stock shocks so you may need to do some trimming

As for it not lining up, 2" out is nothing really probably just the weight of the shock pulling it down. Have you checked the brackets for straightness?

Range Rover Blues:
If it's lifted then the bush will be out of line.  Get rid of the polybushes and fit rubber, they are the same rubbers as used on the anti roll bar drop links.

On the top mount you should tighten the nut up fully, it seats onto a shank on the mounting bolt.  Make sure the washer is the right way round, it is convex on one side.
