Good Afternoon People!

I have just entered into the forray of 4x4 off road driving, since being involved in track days! It's going to be my daily driver and really happy with it. It has an engine I am very familiar with!!

It's a 1991 Nissan Patrol fitted with a Series 2 RB25 DET

Here is the spec:

1991 H-Reg Nissan Patrol LWB
Black
RB25DET (Series 2) mounted to original gearbox
Currently running a estimated 300ish bhp
Turbo is a XS-Power T04E
Large FMIC with pipework
Side exist exhaust 3" turbo back
New Greddy Cambelt
Front facing inlet manifold (modified standard one)
Boost is currently at 10psi

As this is my first ever 4x4, i am completely retarded with what i need to get it working off road, what i need to help me not get stuck and what i can buy to make it better? The engine itself is definately strong enough, just need the rest of it to match

Interesting beasty you have there!

As for using it off-road, it really depends on what you aim to do. I would suggest the exhaust would get ripped off straight away with it's current exit point though.

where would the best place be to exit?

Welcome, I'm a newbie also your Patrol looks really good perhaps a bit of wolf in sheeps clothing re the understated body and the power under the bonnet  :D

Regards to your exhaust in the short time I have been into 4x4s 2 words have been used.................ground clearance  ;)

Awesome beast but it wont like getting wet  :grin:

The problem is lack of choice! Where it is it reduces the breakover angle... basically, a tall enough hump will catch the tailpipe before the rear tyre starts climbing. If you take it out the back, you reduce departure angle.... the tailpipe will catch the down slope as you level out. If you can get it to exit behind the rear wheel, but tight up against the body (or even cut into the side panel), it would have less chance of catching.
