« on: October 06, 2010, 15:56:46 »
Afternoon chaps im after a bit of a clue with why my Heated Front Screen suddenly wont work?

it seems to have suddenly packed up if I press the button you can hear it click but thats all it does the light wont stay on and the screen of course will not de mist

Ive checked the fuses under the bonnet and in the fuse panel under the dash but cant find a blown fuse ?

is there anything else I can try plz lol now the winter months are coming I like just pressing the button and having a cuppa while it de mists lol

The two connectors (1 for each half of the screen) that supply it are in the scuttle under the bonnet at the back one each side, see if you've got a supply at the plugs with them switched on, if not then I'd suspect a faulty relay.

The heated front screen will only come on if battery voltage is good - it takes a fair current and the intention is to avoid completely killing a sad battery and stranding you.
So, possible sad battery, wiring, or alternator giving slightly low volts could stop it staying on. Something like a bad earth under the dash could do it.
Or the magic voltage-sensitive controller itself could be duff.
