Hi, I need some wheelarch extentions for my Disco. I have fitted Landcruiser axles (wider than LR) and have now got some 35x14.50x15 tyres to fit on 10x15 wheels. They stick out past the arch about 6 inches!! :oops: So my original plan of Defender arches has gone out the window!

Somone said to me that I could buy universal stuff off a roll for kit cars, but I haven't had any luck finding it! Anyone know of anything I can use??

QT definitely had soft rubbery stuff from a roll at Newbury today...

It was dry in their tent, which was why I wandered in... hope this helps!

Could also try your local agricultural machinery parts supplier - the belts used on bale wrappers and conveyors are probably made from suitable stuff.

Hi mate, just out of interest why did you fit the landcrusier axles...is it because they have lockers in them...?

Why not look at making some fibreglass arches and fit them, or make a fibreglass mould and get some formed from plastic or rubber.

I'm looking at this again and wondering if bubble arches (a la MK1 Escort rally car) might be the best idea. You're going to have to cut the wings pretty heavily to get any flex with the wheels where they are, otherwise you'll end up with a truck which can't get as far as a near-standard one with a few suspension mods.

One way would be to use the extended flexi arches and then use something like the QT riveted to the flexi arch.
What tyres are you running?

Thats true, so like a double arch?

They need to be flexable, as it does get slid along those slider bars.

Tyres are Interco TSL Thornbirds, 35x14.50 x15 on 10x15 steel modulars with a huge negative offsett!

Not any more it won't - the tyres are in the way! :lol:

There's an Escort with the bubble arches here to give an idea of what they look like if you haven't seen one before. It'll probably look a bit weird on a Disco but it's the only way I can see to have decent flex and keep it road legal.

Think i'm going to have to start looking at american trucks, they seam to use big flexi arches.

She does flex well with the gynn lewis challenge kit on it, don't want to loose any of the travel!!

Fexi arches are very flexable i aint broke one yet and they have been rubbed along trees and rocks :lol:

I've seen some pretty extreme vehicles get Q plates and IVA certificates, it can be done. You just need to be meticulous and check everything against the regs as you go.

why not add extra bars to the cage that come out over the wheels then plate the top..

bit like a tray back,,,, on the front.. :-k

would protect the wheels too.. :D
