disco bottle jack
« on: September 07, 2010, 17:48:41 »
The little 2 tonne red bottle jack supplied with tdi discos... anyone know if the release valve is supposed to have a ball bearing in there or something else? Just serviced the seals on one as it never worked, but still it wouldn't take any weight as it kept leaking back via the release valve ports. A tiny cheapy made in Taiwan bottle jack that I took apart has a ball bearing in front of the jack lower/release screw and my landrover one doesn't.

Sounds likley then, the cheapo one was probably designed that way as it's cheaper than making it accurately.
