300 TDI, DIY Snorkel.....
300TDi Disco:
I am planning to make a snorkel but have come across a few things which i need answers for. First of all, I am going to have a piece of stainless 65mm bent but need to know the angle to allow the pipe to go behind the wing. (like to mantec one) I have seen them on ebay but they don't answer my questions. (not surprised really) & the other is how do you deal with all the little holes on the 300 air box?
Any help would be appreciated..
Regards
Matt.

Whereabouts are you Matt?
I'm in Northampton - welcome to come and have a look at mine - is a proper safari snorkel fitted and working. Make a model and build your own from it.

have just made one for my 300tdi. i made a cutout in the wing as per camel discos and used flexi pipe to go through the wing so i didnt have to bother with the bend. i used plastic gas main pipe and sleeved it with the flexi when finished.
all the holes are sealed with tiger seal or silicone sealant

i made mine out of stainless and painted it black, i cant remember the angles but i had more than one bend (mabe 2 45 bends) its not too hard to work it out when you get the wing off. as for the air box i filled all the holes with silicone and then put water in the air box to check there water tight.
i have now added a 45 to the top so the top sits straight and it made it a bit quiter when the window was open
(best pic i got of it with changed top)
