Sticking clutch pedal :(
« on: August 12, 2010, 21:39:24 »
Hi chaps - sorry to post a question but im a bit stupmed on where to start or if what I have is a common problem or not.

Discovery 1 on an M plate - 300 Tdi manual

It seems that if I hold the clutch pedal fully in for more than 5 - 10 seconds it sticks to the floor and kinda needs a bit of a kick / bounce to get it to spring back up.

It does seem to do it more when the engine is running and maybe more if its in gear with the clutch in but it might just be me. I also noticed that when I was praticing trailor parking and manouvering the pedal started to sit halfway down (just above the biting point) and to get it fully up it had to be pulled by hand. Im guessing it did this as it was getting hot maybe ?

Anyone had anything like this or got any ideas where to start ?

Many thanks in advance :)

Sounds like it could be a hydraulic fault or the release bearing on it's way thru the pressure plate or the clutch fork.
Are you loosing any clutch fluid? Is there signs of any leaks around the slave or clutch master cylinder?
If not you could be looking at removing the gearbox?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

sounds like your thrust bearing is partialy seizing on the out put shaft  ive seen a few like this where theyve been off roaded in deep water without wading plugs
As a youth I could run up and down stairs all day now I'm older it takes me all day just to walk upstairs
