V8 stalling
big tim:
Evening guys i seem to be having an issue with my 1998 3.9 v8 auto disco. When starting the engine the engine fires up then dies down and stalls but when restarted it fires up as normal and runs fine . This problem has only been happing about a week or so. I have replaced the idle control valve about 2 months ago with a genuine item. I would be very grateful of any help to resolve this issue cheers Tim
Range Rover Blues:
possibly an air leak. Depending on the engine management system it will start rich and not run full control over fuelling ubtill the MAF sensor gives a reading, so a faulty MAF, an air leak or sticky idle valve for starters.

Cheers RRB i did wonder if the MAF might be the culprit. Its the later hot wire type MAF if that's any help.
Range Rover Blues:
Has it got Lmabdas? if so try disconnecting the MAF and staring it up.

Yes it has lambdas and tried running with the MAF unplugged and it didnt make a massive amount of difference . I gather from this it could be the MAF on its way out then. Cheers Tim
