Knock on effect of moving steering damper?

I have a superwinch PTO driven winch fitted. The driveshaft come forward to the winch under the front crossmember and over the top of the steering damper. I have lived with it having a slight contact there on steering damper cover but since have changed the damper for a non standard one and the gap is too tight now.


In the official superwinch to landrover fitting instructions it shows the addition of a drop down bracket made of C section fitted over the existing bracket.


I never had that bracket so have made this one today to drop the mount point.



My question is, what (if any) side effects on suspension/steering would this relocation have? Anything to worry about?

No difference at all because it doesnt change the length of the damper, only the angle.

It might make the drag link spin around a little.  I fitted a Defender drag link and damper and I find the pressurised damper forces the drag link to spin, not a problem except it can trash the balljoint boots.
