Back of rear brake lights....

<< < (2/2)

JumboBeef:
Thanks.  One last question: what colour is the +12v going to the brake lights?

Range Rover Blues:
I'd guess at red/yellow.  Drop the tail light out to check then remove the rear speakers and have a lookinside.  you can pull the headlining away but if you pull too hard the backing will kink permenantly.

How do I get in please?

Back to where I started

Rossko:
Stop light wire is green/purple, there is one either side in the harness behind the D post trim.  (Red/yellow is rear fog)

Lucas wiring colours were fairly standardised across a wide range of 1950s-1990s vehicles

It was a guess

Rear tal lights, you should see a row of screws at the top, sides and bottom.  There are 4 screws holding each lens on and 6 holding the whole lamp unit on, 4 through the back and 2 on the side.  These are self-tappers into a clip so you can remove the light and replace it without it coming loose, just be careful with the foam gasket if it's stuck in place.

The wiring to the rear clusters goes through a grommet in the rear side wing, just ahead of the tail light but in front of the rear door frame so you can't get at in easily with the light out, best to splice into the wiring inside the car.
