Changing a 1991 ABS to standard breaks!
Rainbird:
I could be wrong, but........
If your Range can with ABS as standard, will it still go through the MOT without ABS or will it cause a failure due to non-operation of the ABS?
When the tester calls the details up on the PC, the vehicle details will tell him that it's got ABS and therefore, will need to pass. In some cases, the lack of an ABS warning light will be sufficient, but if there is a light sequence on the ABS light like comes on and then goes out as teh vehicle is started, then no ABS light will cause an MOT failure
Like I said, I might be wrong, but it's something you should investigate before doing the switch
Dr Strangeglove:
Thanks for the heads up on that  I will check before I do anything, I will also check with the insurance about mods to the vehicle.
Range Rover Blues:
It was done in one of the LR magazines a while back. Not sure of the amswer on the above other than the RRC was available without ABS and nothing on the V5 says whether or not it has ABS, also a competant mechanic can tell from looking which system you have.
Anyhoo
You need the master cylinder and servo, best to change the pedal box perhaps, not sure.
You need a new set of brake pipes, you'll need a splitter too because the ABS has 2 rear pipes, the non ABS only has 1. It's the union on the rear alxe that's different and non-ABS only has one rear flexi.
Remove all the associated bits, the pump and accumulator, the bulb from the dash and the ECU too if you like. The front sensors need to stay put unless you fit the swivle pins from a Defender.
The back sensors you can remove, along with the exciteor rings.
Alternatively what's wrong with the ABS?
