I can't help but think that it isn't a good idea to make it this simple to report people. See, at present those of us who have the knowledge and experience to recognise illegal behaviour also know exactly who to approach with evidence. The forms give every bobbly miseryguts the chance to tie up Police time and public money investigating alleged offences that turn out to be people acting lawfully.

That said, from what I've heard the Police cannot take action without photographic evidence, as otherwise it's one person's word against another's. If they say that photos/videos need to clearly show the alleged offenders behaving illegally and with enough of the background to positively identify the location then it cuts the chances of malicious reports dramatically.

I am not impressed with the idea of "hotlines" as they will attract nuisance callers such as the sort who buy a house on a ROW and then waste thousands of pounds of council money by waging a one-person campaign to have it closed. By all means use them to work out where your next sting should be, but if you're getting lots of reports from one phone number then it's more likely to be NIMBY than a serious problem!

I don't see the problem with it. It isn't any different from the Crimewatch hotline. At the end of the day if you're trespassing or driving on land not forming part of a public highway. Then you deserve to lose your motor.

It was 3 trial bikes on Sarn Helen. A road that many of us drove pre NERC. It was criminal for the government to remove that right.
