how do I know when I have cut enough of the arches out ?

I have trimed enough to stop the tyres rubbing when cornering at speed and jumping speed humps at 35mph but how do I know when I've gone far enough , you see I have black plastic arch trims fitted and don't realy want to distort the line of the arches too much if I can help it :shock: I have been up a local lane that does cross the axles quite a bit and it was fine  :D but I'm going to the mayday mud fest and don't really want it to hold me back :twisted:

The general rule is you need to cut, from the bottom, at least 1" in horizontally and they taper it up in a straight line to arround the height of the plastic edging strip. Mine runs a 1.5" lift and 235/85/16's. I also took a nick out of the lip on the front edge of the rear arch too.

You can just make out the black line on the masking tape in the photo...

Have you any ramps put one at the front left and one rear right and see if it will clear ok.and vis a vis.

Yes Thrasher I know you can cut off loads but then the black plastic arches don't fit no more ... :shock: (nice pics by the way)

The way mace has it looks just dandy I'll get the grinder out tonight  :wink:

I've already removed the front valance so do I still need to trim the bumper ends or is cutting the valance off enough on the front??

Lee, I used a jigsaw with a fine tooth blade specifically for cutting sheet metal. Like a knife through butter and nice and straight.

A metal cutting disc on an angle grinder may clog a bit with the aluminium being soft.

The end caps are easy too, (i used the same blade) once you've got em off mind. My screws were rusted solid. Anyway, cut the end caps along the horizontal line thats obvious along the side of the end cap. Easy Peasy.

Ya, now we're married I can grabber any time I............ Oh, your talking about the tyres arn't you!  :oops:

These are the second set of Grabber MT's I've had. Good on & off road manners and cheaper than BFG's, although a little less life expectency, mind you the 235x85's on my 90 did about 30k so not all that bad!  :D

Found out at the weekend that i have'nt cut mine enough!!!
I thought that 2" off the lot and "camel'd" the rears would have done it for my 235/85R16's.
When this pic was taken the N/S rear bit the arch and the O/S front bit the loose bumper
Whoops!!
Just show's you what Scorpion Racings 2" lift does on its own.
(no other suspension mods YET)
