Average speed cameras ?

(1/5) > >>

Gromitt:
Do these actually work and has anyone on here recieved a fine generated by one ?

I was driving about a month ago in a motorway 50 zone and because I was having a barny with the missus I passed 2 cameras doing about 65mph. Over a month has passed and still no fine notification so it seems I have got away with it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm guilty as charged but it looks as if I have beaten the system.

V8MoneyPit:
Maybe we all have these cameras wrong and they do exercise judgement rather than just handing out inflexible fines..... they saw you getting an earbashing and took pity

Mutz:
Yes they do work!!!

And i got a fine, posted out to me; 36 in a 30.

Then was given option pay £60 fine or £70 for "speed awareness" course, with no points on licence ;).

I think you would have heard by now if they was going to send you a fine, i believe they let you know in 2 weeks.

Must admit, thought easy way out of points on licence, but it is very informative and i have been very aware of my speed ever since course; everyone should take this course.

I've always said the training & testing for getting a license should be stricter - people who haven't been affected by an accident caused by speed always think it's a victimless offence.

muddyjames:
you can normally tell if they are turned on or not by looking for the red laser beam as you pass underneath and look into the camera. Well, the ones I pass through on a tuesday have the red light on sometimes and not others and they aren't in road works either.
