Disco lt77 into a defender ?
« on: April 10, 2010, 00:02:53 »
I've read various forums and they say that you cannt put a disco g/box in a defender without modifying the tunnel/seatbox..
I assume this is using the complete disco box including selector(lever housing)

Is it possible to swap the selector housings therefore moving the gear lever further forwards ?

Cheers Jon
Hit it till it breaks then hit it some more !

Hi mash, it is posible to swap the internals over to allow the use of a discovery box in a defender but it is hard work, a lot of hastle and must be spotlessly clean when you do it.
Personally i wouldnt bother changing it over, id try and get a defender one instead

Your right i have fitted disco lt77 and R380 boxes to defenders, unless you know the ins and outs of gear box strip and rebuilt i wouldnt bother,  the fifth gear housing and 5th gear and syncro hub needs to be changed for defender items, and the 5th gear selector forlk must be changed,
