200tdi starter
« on: April 09, 2010, 20:18:45 »
Hi all

Just had to be bump started by another landrover in Sainsbury's car park!

Are all starters on 200tdi's a pain or is it just the one's i fit????

Most of the time it starts first time and then I can be sat there ages trying to make it engage and then it works - not this evening!  Got back home, turns the engine off and tries to start it again - it starts.
Before I go and get a new starter tomorrow is there anything else that might be amiss??

many thanks in advance
Dave

It does sound like the starter is dodgy to me,

If you can hear the motor spinning its the solinoid not firing enough,

if its clicking its a flat battery

Hi

Bit the bullet and went to a local motor factors who had a Bosch exchange unit, it came in a Bosch box sealed!
Luckily the starter i took off before putting the cheap starter on  a year or so ago I kept, which was a Bosch, straight to the shop and swapped over, £123.00, thought not bad considering a cheapo is about £100.

Cheers all

Dave

That should hopefully see you right for another +100k miles then. The cheap ones are dire in comparison.
