agreed value insurance

This comes up a lot. YOU DO NOT NEED EXTRA COVER FOR GREEN LANEING AS IT IS A PUBLIC ROAD!! You only need cover for "off road driving".
I found http://2getherinsurance.com/ to be very good for my LC. Agree value with just telling them what I had done to it, no pictures needed.

And I wouldn't fancy taking on an insurance company lawyer in a highway / byway argument.

Another vote for 2gether - got my Disco and kit car with them, both agreed value - no problems.

I always thought that. SO if you need extra cover for green lanes then best tell them you may be using it on a motorway and will they cover that. If a green lane was not a road you would not need a licence or tax or insurance to use it. Just sound like insurance companys ripping people off more.
I use a normal local company fully comp for my disco for £400 as i hgv driver that not bad. Plus it includes a nice bundle with it.

...and as raised before....( I hopefully understand it correctly [-o< ).... 'green laning' insurance covers you and your vehicle to make claim against own policy i,e your comprehensive cover stands ... without 'greenlaning cover' in the policy you are STILL always covered against third party claims on a byway regardless. This means you will have the required legal minimum of insurance cover but depending on the policy you'll probably find your are not comprehensively covered whilst driving off a "highway" i.e a byway. Somewhere in the policy it will have to say something like "NOTHING in this document effects the right of a third party to make a claim"... very powerful statement.
So I think Paul is right you don't need extra cover to go greenlaning because its a public road just that you might not be covered to the level you would be on a highway. I think you are also right regarding wording of the policy for highway/byway differences but those clause may only effect the ability to make your own claims against policy.
If you only run around with 3rd party only insurance anyway you would have no worries because you was never covered for damage or injury. If we think about it is fair that they do charge more for extra cover for greenlaning (i.e give you comp cover) because the risk of damage/injury claims is higher.
