EGR removal
john656:
Doing a few jobs on the disco this weekend, one of which is the head gasket and seeing as its apart i thought it would be rude to not remove/blank the egr off. Is it best to remove the little valve completely or just block it off with some tin either side?
Any heres one i did earlier pictures?
300 tdi by the way.

BigA:
I believe its best to remove it/blank the actual EGR valve. If its stuck open, even slightly, it will let gasses out still, even if they are not being recirculated back to the turbo.
MudRat:
you can remove it, its easier to put in a bit of tin between the block and the valve, bit of sealant, 5 min job.
mark-d:
for about £15 you can buy a kit and do it properly, comes with a new gasket a plate and new hose from your intercooler to your inlet manifold.
its worth cleaning the inlet manifold while its off and the intercooler as they will be full of crap
