Tyre choice with a 2" lift

Yuiiieee carumbah!, Ive been through the threads and a few other sites, called people and so far all getting different ans, so can anyone advise me on this great debate? what tyres ytou have what experiences ther are, slipping on grass etc,

I have a 1972 Rangie, she's my pride and joy, she's getting ES gas shocks, Britpart +2" lift HD springs and I'd like some nice big tyres, but what size without chopping or adjustsing anything ?

235 85 16 seem to be the most used here,  I'm looking at the Colway MT's, Ive been told 235 70, 245 85.. As I'm GLASS rep they'll be for Greenlaning, the odd off road day and looking damn good ! ( thanks to those comming on 24th April by the way, see events) I'm not looking for the biggest tyre but certainly bigger than originals  235 85 are the same as 7.50's are they not? I think Grizzlies be just too much for what I'll be doing..

If it's anything like the Discovery, 235/85/16 should fit with a 2" lift, may require some slight modifications to the wings/arches tho with a pair of tin snips.

Then the usual disclaimer regarding checking your axle bump stops are long enough, brake pipes long enough etc.

By the way, there's a couple of members awaiting an answer regarding the doo on the 24th  :wink:

265/75 is much the same as 7.50x16, for the past 3 years I run with BFG AT's in 265 75x16, used for lanning pay n play, on a few occiasions they have let me down (but that another story and it could also be driver error :? )

Now running a set of BGF MT's in the same size, as yet they have not let me down. Depends on what you want to pay, the BFG roughly work out at £110 per corner The AT's I had for 3 years done about 30k on them and they still look like new. So you get what you pay for  :D

One my old Rangie I used to have 7.50x16 SAG's on there and had no problems with arches ect. (also had a 2" lift)

The Colways are a good tyre by all accounts, as you mention there are a lot on here that use them and swear by them and I sure they will be along to tell you about them.

Had 235/85's on the bobtail, That had a 2" lift.
Trimed the arches all round too just to be on
the safe side and finished them off with some
knock on mini sill trim:
