Aldi Welders

Does anyone know what the welders from Aldi are like? At £135 for a gas/gasless welder it seems okay and the amperage can be turned quite low.I'm using a Kende from screwfix at the mo but it's a bit harsh for the thinner body parts,and I need to do the sporti for it's MOT.

Now got some camacs and bfg a/ts can't get it stuck.Need longer legs.

Buy a decent 2nd hand one for the money.

They are cheap for a reason.

we have lots of the aldi stuff generators, welders, compressors, chainsaws.... and we cant fault any of them... we have 2 of there arc welders and they are bloody good as good as the machine mart stuff easy and cheaper. ofc at the start we thought the *why are they so cheap* and started small with little stuff and slowly worked our way up now i wouldn't have any trouble at all in trusting there gear its all very well made very surprising when you click onto it :)

I've the 2.5hp compressor from aldi, again a heap of sh...   2.5 half dead donkey power I've have thought. The CFM is no where near the output on the side of the box. It's not that mines a dud, my old man picked one up just in case his 2hp sealey died, and again, it's a rubbish as mine.

Good for inflating tyres, but you have to wait for the comprssor to catch up doing that !

Aldi tools are junk. That age old saying of you get what you pay for is true.

Thanks for the opposite points of view.I think I may take a chance can't be any worse than the kende from crewfix.IfI see one in the shop and I've got the cash I'll get one and have a play.Looked at the sip in Halfords as I've got a trade card being an engineer.Good idea these cards if you shop in Halfords,up to 70% on some parts(plugs £12 a set only £4.60 trade)all you need is your city and guilds/btec and company wage chit. :D

got a sip arc from halfords to learn welding with yesterday, no discount for the trade card im afraid :(

oh and thanks for posting this, poped into aldi on my way home to see if they had any clamps or gloves etc, they didnt but they did have the  bread maker my mum wants for christmas, saved me the horror of argos :dance:
