Insurance oddities

thermidorthelobster:
I've been dealing with Adrian Flux about my 101 insurance, who have up to this point been very helpful.  However, just as my credit card was in my hand ready to sign up, they told me the policy they were looking at *would not cover me in Iceland, or Norway*.

My existing insurer for the Disco, CIS, readily covers me for Iceland.  However, Adrian Flux swore blind that *none* of the underwriters they deal with would cover me outside the EU.  And this is on a Camper policy!

As it stands, if I want Iceland cover, I'm going to have to pay CIS about double what Adrian Flux want.  I'm a bit miffed about all this.

What does everybody else think?  Are Adrian Flux talking rollocks?  Other people who have been to Iceland - did your insurers cover you?  Or did people just assume?

thermidorthelobster:
Just as an update, I phoned CIS back to get a better price, and they've decided they can't insure it at all, because it's not shown on their system.  (The quote I had yesterday was evidently for a totally different vehicle.  I presume the operator got bored of looking for 101 and just put 110 in instead.)

So as it stands, I can't find anybody who will insure my 101 to go to Iceland or Norway, which are the two places I'm most likely to take it.

I tried Roadsure, by the way, but their website couldn't cope, and although I rang them, they never called me back.

:(

thermidorthelobster:
This is turning into a blog!

I've just been back in touch with CIS, who told me they *could* insure me for a 101 after all, but I have to call back tomorrow to speak to an underwriter.  I wish they'd make up their minds.

I've also been on hold for 40 MINUTES to Roadsure, being told that my call is very important to them, before I hung up in despair.

And Adrian Flux say they will call me back tomorrow...

Given insurance is so freaking expensive, why is it impossible to deal with the flaming insurance companies?  Do they want several hundred pounds of my hard earned cash, or not?   Scum, the lot of them...

Colin 009:
Would you adam 'n' eve it

got a letter from the insurance company of the van I hit a couple of weeks ago and its the same blooming company as my insurance Equity red star. You would think their computer would flag up my details when they started to enter them in.

muddyweb:
Thermidor... did you try the Caravan Club ?

They were happy to insure a converted Bus for me, for only a few hundred quid.
