l200 or navara

(1/2) > >>

Russell:
Hi all
im thinking about getting a crewcab pickup to use for work and for carting the crosser about. I have about £3000-£4000 to spent and i quite like the l200's and navara's.
Does anyone know what there like and are they any good?

Harsh ride Im afraid , try b4 you buy..........  Navara has more power , personaly Id go for Hi-lux alot better ride....

For that money you will get a 2002/2003 model although mileage and condition will also influence this.
The hilux is better made but seriously underpowered.  Not much to choose between the D22 and L200, both similar power, performance, mpg, etc.  The D22 is a bit nicer to drive although doesn't feel quite as solid somehow.
The D22 has a known crankshaft issue which you should check has been sorted.  You get an lsd or locker in the D22.
I do like the crewcab pickups, very versatile and make a good daily drive too.  Downside is that mpg is generally high 20's/low 30's and the 1t capacity can make a bouncy ride on minor roads.

Watch out for imports.  You can get a better spec, for example difflock in the rear.  You can get worse spec too, example L200's without a heater!

Is it the nissan with the outrage over the engines?  Falling apart at very low millage and nissan not standing by them?  Or have I the wrong truck?

JIMBOBLY:
well,im gonna be completeley honest with you mate,i work in a garage, and i get to do all the 4x4 and vans, both of the vehicles in question, both have their problems with the engines, navara's are prone to,like you say, engines falling to bits, and the L200 has head and problems, and in some cases bottom end,and some the whole engine, its a shame realy, cause the rest of both these trucks seem to be fairly bullet proof.
