No steering (what now)

(1/3) > >>

BigA:
i was driving along this morning, luckily not far from home as i was only warming the gearbox up fro an oil change, and all of a sudden, with no warning, the steering became almost impossible to turn.

I have undo the bleed screw on the steering box, and oil coming out, with no air, so i presume the pump is ok, i jacked up the front, and the wheels are very difficult to turn (steering wise). I cant find anything looking odd, so is this my steering box?

i have a spare box in the garage, but before i swap it over, i thought i would check with you wise people to see if it may be anything else?

Cheers

Andy

bogie:
Disconnect the steering arms from the swivels and turn the wheels by hand, could be a swivel ceased?

crazymac:
Has the belt that runs the PUMP snapped?

It sounds to me that there is no hydraulic fluid being pumped so I would suggest the belt has snapped?

Bobtail:
Also check the steering damper

That may be u/s

BigA:
I checked the damper, took it off and still stiff.

First thing i checked was the belt, and all OK.

Swivel, never thought of that, and hope its not  :(

Hopefully better weather tomorrow so i can get under and get to the bottom of it.

cheers so far.
