2000 rpm sounds like a stuck extra air valve, or a large air leak -clamp the hose going to the EAV and see if it goes to 'about normal', if it does you have found your problem ;)

if you are fitting the manual box then you will need the brass spigot ring in the end of the crankshaft

I find with mine the idle is about 1100rpm. If i lower the idle and put it into drive the revs drop and make it stall. What should a 3.5 v8 be idle @?

Mine sorted now it was the bypass valve. No smoke either thank god!

Got mine down to 800rpm which sounds right.

Sounds like your air bypass valve might be gummed up aswell.
