Hello playmates...
I think the thing to remember here is that it is a deisel.
If you want to buy a car that is fast and gutsy then you should not be looking at a Diesel Land Rover product!
let's face it!.....a brick shaped vehicle does not bode well for breaking land speed records.
The P38 is in most ways acceptable.
It's a great family car.
It is reasonably economic, getting around 25-28 mpg, but not as good as a Tdi 200.
It is smooth and comfortable at speeds that other Land Rovers, particularly Defenders would be rattling.
It's a great tow tug and will pull large trailers or caravans without any aggro,
although you have to grit your teeth going up some hills.
(a trip to see a chip man is worthwhile) Google dynachip.
The interiors are plush and full of good gizzmos.
Off road they are as good as any other 4x4.
The off road scene is now coming round to P38's just like they did on Discos a few years ago.
You also get a hell of a lot of car for your beer tokens............
All in all a great 4x4.
bustermb:
my thoughts exactly :D
