Possible new owners of a P38 DSE - Advice needed, please!!

(1/3) > >>

les baty:
Hello,
We've not been in the Range Rover section before, only ever had disco's. But we fancy a bit of a change, so........  we are looking at a 2.5 DSE P38 Range Rover

We have heard that the 2.5 DSE suffers from under power, is this true?

My hubby has asked me to find out what the bhp and torque are in comparison to the 300tdi, and also, is it a cam belt or a chain?

Is there anyone out there that could possibly help us with these queries?

My hubby has viewed the car this morning and is very impressed and is taking me back tonight to have a look!!

Your advice would be gratefully received!!

many thanks

carls200tdi:
according to the info in the lro magazine 300tdi is 113bhp at 4000rpm and 195lb/ft at 1800 rpm torque
2.5 p38 is134bhp at 4400rpm and 199lb/ft at 2300 rpm torque hope this helps

squaddie_fox:
it  is very underpowered for such a large car.

Range Rover Blues:
They have a reputation for being a bit lazy but economical.  The same engine lives in the 525? BMW oil burner if you ever need a spare.

they make good towcars too, depite the laclk of startling performance.
