Most economic small 4x4??? RAV4 reviews???

My sister is looking for a new 4x4 and wants to get the most economic small 4x4 she can get!
Price wise under £1500 ideally.

Any suggestions? recommendations?

Jimmy would be good also a vitara, i know freelanders can go cheapish but not sure how economic and reliable they are  :)

but down here a freelander for
 that kinda price usually has spares or repair written on a bit of paper in the window.

well you can get them on a 98reg for about £1200 with about 90K on the clock!
