hi guys if i wanted to do a project doing a 90 could i use a disco or rrc chassis or has it gotta be defender chassis  thx

Disco Matt:
Depends on what you want to build. Disco/RRC are 100 inch wheelbase, and you would now need an SVA if you were building a hybrid with Defender body panels on a Disco chassis (basically if you modify the chassis at all it will need an SVA - there are other reasons for needing one but that's a good rule of thumb).

You will find a lot less welding is needed with a Defender chassis as it will already have the right body mounts. If you want to build a 90 or 110 then it's not worth fiddling about, just buy the right chassis to begin with.

ok cheers for clearing that up i was curious as i want to do one from scrath just not sure about paying £1k for new chassis rather a donor cheap but they even seem to go for same price as one already working

Disco Matt:
Defender prices in this area are (or were) ridiculous. When I last looked you could buy a very tidy Disco 1 with a good trim level for the same or less than a rough ex-farm 90 in need of a lot of tidying up!

morson4x4:
well i just seen a series 3 chassis and body, tdi engine has blown up for £100 and theres a v8 engine on a rrc classic chassis for £100 reckon it worth doing it that way and plonk it in or should i stick with a tdi engine
