OK, due to a few requests, let's set a date. Weds 24th June, 7.00pm onwards at the Cherry Trees on Dereham Road, Norwich:

So why not come along for a chin wag and a bite to eat. I haven't bothered booking anything with the pub. I would imagine they will be able to cope with a few of us turning up. Totally informal, just look out for the scruffy rabble :lol:

I think we might need a new venue. last night besides being quiet ( party of 2 !) the pub no longer has the same licensee and it shows. Shame. Is it worth rotating the venue ... i sppreciate that people like one venue however being such a large county and we;re spread about it might be worht havng a different host area each meeting ( ??)

If you fancy having a look for an alternative venue Spike, please feel free to so so. I'm more than happy for anyone to put together a meet. Maybe we should try a July meet somewhere in your area? What do you think?

given i live in norwich but work in both Dereham (2 days ) and Gt yrmth ( sth wold etc 3 dys ) I can say I cover the county . I am happy to do the 30 - 40 miles in each direction . I do not however know the pubs in each corner of Norfolk . I can suggest but not presume .

There is always a problem finding somewhere that suits everyone. So the suggestion earlier for Swaffham/Dereham area is as good as anywhere to start with.

Has anyone thought of having a couple of venues around Norfolk i.e North both east and west for those people in the top half of the county and south both east and west for those in the south including Norfolk/Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border, the 4 pub meets can then arrange with each other for get together days pay & play b-b-que's ect ect

That's exactly the plan Darren. Just seemed reasonable to start in the middle of the county. Then a different area to follow. But we haven't had any suggestions for a venue yet!

We do have a rather limited number of members in the region and they are scattered around. So the problem with having several meeting places is that some might only get 2 people turning up! That's what happened at the last Norwich meet!

We used to get up to 20 people out to our Norwich meets a few years ago, but the numbers dwindled and we stopped the meetings. The same happened the last time we tried. Started out with a reasonable turnout and after 2 or 3 months it was down to a few people.

I'm more than happy for us to try again though.

I know the pub near me who would be happy to host a meet got a large car park too. Location is Feltwell, Thetford Norfolk.
To give an idea of location -

Norwich - 1 hour
Cambridge - 1 hour
Kings Lynn - 30 mins
Bury St Edmunds - 30 mins
Swaffham - 30 mins

OK mate, sounds good to me! Would you get a chance to drop in and check which evening they prefer? ..... just in case we get 20 people turning up (chance would be a fine thing, but we can always hope!!). Then we can set a date.

:lol: Oh what a chore, I dragged myself to the pub this afternoon and had to force myself to drink an extra cold guiness :boohoo:
but hey all in the line of duty.
OK they are more than happy to host the meets (as any pub would be in this day and age) best night would be a Wednesday. They serve food, snacks, have a beer garden
for those few sunny nights we have left (if any) and children are welcome.
Oh yes the pub is The Chequers, Hill Street, Feltwell IP26 4AB.

We just need to see who wants to come and when.
